The Aeromax technology creates sub-micron bubbles, and subsequently a massive surface area, since the ratio of surface area to volume is 3/r - the smaller the bubble the greater this ratio. Increasing the surface maximizes the transfer of oxygen into water or other fluids. The sub-micron bubbles are so small that the density of the water or fluid generally exceeds the upward force of the density difference of the bubbles and the water or fluid. This buoyancy difference keeps the microbubbles in suspension as they cannot rise through the fluid column allowing the oxygen to dissolve into the fluid.

Wastewater Treatment

The biological treatment of wastewater is based upon the existence of aerobic systems. In the classical activated sludge process, organic material in wastewater is consumed by the micro-organisms which grow rapidly in aerated water. The water is cleared of organic material and is discharged, sometimes after a polishing process (e.g. sand filters, activated carbon, etc.), as clarified water.

Under normal circumstances the maximum concentration of oxygen which can dissolve in water is around 9 mg/l - this gives 100% saturation at ambient temperatures. The AeroMax head has demonstrated the ability to saturate water with Oxygen to levels as high a 136%. Resulting in a higher calculated DO transfer. Aerobic biological treatment systems operate substantially more efficiently with constant levels of Dissolved Oxygen over sustained periods of time. In aerobic biological wastewater treatment processes, oxygen is fundamental to the effective removal of both the BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand). Getting this oxygen into the treat system at a lower operating cost is what AeroWerks is all about.
